Building Values, Building Nations: Insights from the Guest Lecture on “Value Building in National Building”
On October 4, 2024, our college Seminar Hall resonated with thoughtful discussions as B.Com (CA) and B.Com (PA) students gathered for a transformative guest lecture titled “Value Building in National Building.” The event was led by Dr. V. Renugadevi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce at Vellalar College for Women, Erode, who shared her profound insights on the intrinsic link between personal values and national development.
Dr. Renugadevi emphasized that individual values are the cornerstone of societal progress. She argued that ethical conduct, integrity, and social responsibility are not only personal virtues but also essential components in building a prosperous and resilient nation. The lecture explored how value-driven behavior among citizens can lead to improved governance, enhanced social cohesion, and ultimately, a more dynamic economy.
Throughout the session, the speaker illustrated real-world examples and historical instances where the infusion of strong moral values spurred national growth. Her engaging narrative encouraged students to reflect on their roles as future leaders and the impact of their personal choices on broader societal development.
Moreover, the interactive nature of the lecture allowed students to ask questions and discuss ideas on how they could integrate these values into their daily lives and professional pursuits. In an era where rapid change often challenges ethical foundations, this lecture served as a timely reminder of the power of values in shaping a better tomorrow.
The event not only enriched the academic landscape but also ignited a renewed commitment among students to champion values in both their personal and professional lives.
